When they’re forced to transition from a rural, poor schoolhouse to a public school in Omaha, the close-knit relationship between Jessi Akron and her rambunctious siblings is challenged as they form new identities outside of their dysfunctional, codependent cocoon.

As Jessi tries to outwit her religious bullies and maneuver her developing sexuality she realizes there might be hope to break the family curse that her dad insists forever has and forever will trap generations of Akrons to their dying farm.  But first, Jessi must ask herself if forming her own identity means betraying the ones you love.
