Freshly released from prison after breaking an abortion law, Charlie fails to regain custody of her daughter from her religious sister-in-law. During her final 24 hours in the small, conservative town, she desperately tries to at least scrape up enough money from her allies and enemies to buy her daughter a gift before leaving to find work in the city.
