Aliza Brugger is a Nebraska-born, Los Angeles-based producer with an MFA from Columbia University in screenwriting and directing.

Their work spans narrative, documentary, and commercial filmmaking, with a focus on character-driven stories and distinct creative voices. They are currently producing the feature-length documentary A Little Gay on the Prairie, which follows queer people finding home and happiness in rural USA, and the short film Hole in the Wall (2026), a surreal coming-of-age story set in a hidden world of retired performers, where a young girl’s curiosity begins to rupture the boundaries of her reality.

Aliza’s producing work includes White Space, a short film directed by Raymond Arturo Perez, currently in post-production, as well as the Upstream Farms commercial campaign (2024), which launched the brand’s expansion into whisky distillation across Hulu, YouTube, and regional television. They have also supported festival-acclaimed short films including Buzzkill (dir. Kathy E. Mitrani), which premiered at the Chicago International Film Festival and screened at Palm Springs ShortFest, New Orleans Film Festival, and Hamptons International Film Festival, where it won Best Student Short, and Soy Sola (On My Own) (dir. Natalia Luque Barrios), a DGA Student Film Award Jury Prize winner.

They are most interested in producing work that explores rural identity, queerness, and working-class survival, and are drawn to filmmakers with bold perspectives and emotionally grounded storytelling. Their goal is to support projects that create empathy and connection.
